Poor battery life after updating to belle fp2?
« on: February 15, 2013, 10:04:48 am »
After updating my 701 to FP2, battery life only lasts 2 hours at maximum (offline mode, power saving on, bluetooth and wifi off) I already reflash my phone via refurbish (OFW) stiil the problem is there, I taught it was a battery problem. I bought original OEM battery but still the same. I used my battery warranty to change on other battery, but this time on an original non-OEM battery, it lasts for 3 hours but still not satisfied.. Please help.. I already try to use different apps (tweaks, and other battery saving apps). *sigh* what can i do?

weird, battery was better for everyone else.
You sure you haven't anything running in the background, like maps product improvement ?

is that the cause? i dont use maps. is that on by default? i found that my processor is rarely goes below 40 % and i found that it is cause by ekern.exe if i remember it right. i searched on google and im not the only one experiencing this http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/701-Belle-FP2-battery-issue-again/td-p/1583002 http://forum.dailymobile.net/index.php?topic=82024.0

ekern.exe is a system kernel process, it won't be that directly.

It's doing something, did you give a hard reset ?

how? I already refurbish it yesterday and already have 4 cycles of charging
oh now i know. it's a system, but is this usual? to be almost all the time my processor is 90%.
I miss the belle fp1. Im willing to give all the necessary information just to solve this. I just want to have a decent battery life back, where symbian is well known. and one of my reason of buying 701. thanks in advance.

I've heard that Nokia Battery Monitor eats a lot of battery. Try uninstalling that....

Its a while since the last post, but did you fix it yet?

I bought a new 808 last week, and of course took all the immediate updates happily. Was horrified by the 10% per hour drop in battery level..

Since then I have tried a lot of things, read a lot of unhappy posts, and re-learnt a lot about Symbian since my E61 days :)

I currently have good results! But I'm not sure what really fixed it for me :(

I removed all of the games, Adobe Reader, in fact almost everything in the app drawer that allowed removal, including Weather-, clock- and the new FP2 widgets.

I have qooBattery widget as that shows me the dynamic milliamps used, and the Text Clock widget.

Opera Mobile, cuteBox and Tweetian are the apps I use. I found a 1.26 version of Skydrive to upload photos to the cloud when taken (with a mifi in my pocket ;)

The app which is doing me most good (I ythink) is Battery Power Saver, which I set to either silent, meeting, or offline for max savings, and App Stop which allows me to keep watch for anything unusual.

Hope that may help someone with battery troubles after the FP2 update..
