Please help. I followed every step but as the flashing begins, I turn on the phone (Nokia E63), and as I click OK on the popup my PC gives me a Blue Screen of Death. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Hello all!

I'm trying to recover my N95 (rm-159) without success with Phoenix. I do all the steps mentioned in this tutorial, but I always receive this error:

HRESULT 0x8401F141 (-2080247487)
flash:boot rome was not detected after boot up. unable to start flashing.

Any solutions?

Thanks in advance

It might help to include as much information as possible when asking for specific help.
What are your operating environment variables (OS, software version [of Phoenix], do you have multiple versions installed on your computer, have you disabled ALL antivirus programs, etc.)?

Try another USB port. Phoenix likes the front auxiliary port on this computer. Good ol' USB5  :)

Try removing the battery (two torx screws on the side of the phone, a plastic tab and you can pull the battery out) and begin the dead flash with the battery out. When the dialog box comes on, insert the battery and click OK.

Did you make sure ALL anti-virus programs were off? The GUI program is not enough - you have to kill the engines, as well.

Hmm. I've never had any problems with my AV software, but I'll try to disable it and try again. Then I post the results.

Until i started manually killing running security software (MsMpEng.exe and Msseces.exe which make Microsoft Security Essentials) from the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del), i had all kinds of inconsistent and bug-filled flashing results. Seriously; weird results.
Now, the flashing is going much more smoothly (if only the mods would not brick the phone i would be set!)

Ok. I'll try to kill these ones too. But anyway, I did a test just killing the antivir. Here is what happened:
I stopped all antivirus software and processes and repeated the steps explained in this thread tutorial:
  -> Open Phoenix
  -> Connections: NO CONNECTION
  -> Open product (in my case RM-159)
  -> Flashing -> Firmware Update
  -> Select the product code for update (SW 35.0.002 Variant 001 Product Code:0546222)
  -> Select Dead phone USB flashing
  -> Refurbish

Then I follow the on screen instructions and when I power on
the phone, Phoenix crash and exit.
But If I ignore that error message (not clicking Ok), Phoenix keeps
running, but the flashing fails with this error:

The flashing failed. Do you want to retry the flashing?

HRESULT 0x8401f141 (-2080247487)

Flash: Boot rom was not detected after phone boot up. Unable to start flashing.

And this is the output of Firmware Update:

Flashing started
Creating product data items list
Product data items list created
Backup not required
Flashing phone
Initializing
Scanning image files...
Waiting for USB device...
ERROR: Failed to set phone to flashmode

But If I leave the phone connected to PC, and open Phoenix again, then appears a connection to select, in my case, "USB3 - Product in flash mode". When I select that connection the status bar shows "Ready" and the icon on the left shows a connected status at USB3.

Then I do:

  -> Open product (in my case RM-159)
  -> Flashing -> Firmware Update

It automatically selected my original product code, which is
SW 30.0.015 Variant 007 Product Code 0549028.

The "Dead phone USB flashing" is greyed out. I click on "Update Software" and get this error:

The flashing failed. Do you want to retry the flashing?

HRESULT 0x84210027 (-2078212057)

Firmware: Firmware updating failed. Error 0x8401227A - Flash: Phone reported that it does not allow to flash SW becasue it is older than existing.

And this is the Firmware Update output:

Flashing started

ERROR: Unable to recover the product
ERROR: Product recovery failed

Then I choose a newer product code (SW 35.0.002 Variant 001 Product Code:0546222) and click on "Update Software" and get this error again:

The flashing failed. Do you want to retry the flashing?

HRESULT 0x84210027 (-2078212057)

Its the same thing if I click on "Refurbish". Its strange because its a newer software version. I'm using Phoenix v2014.04.003.47798.

Any help?

Mate;
1. Use Software Reset instead of Refurbish
2. Do not turn on the phone. Instead, remove the battery and click Update Software and a dialog box will appear. At this point, insert the battery and click the Ok button to proceed
Maybe try also:
Disable automatic selection and manually select the FW you want to use
Uninstall your Phoenix and install 2012.50. S60 OS9x seems to like v2012.50.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I'll try it and post the results when done.
