micro sd card 32gb disk error
« on: February 06, 2013, 12:38:52 am »
My 32gb microsd card suddenly had this nagging disk error alarn displayed on my N8. This happened while I was taking pictures not careful enough to remind myself that the free space was only 1.5gb (lol, I'm a N8 photo craze).

The phone is useless with that nagging error alarm. Removing the sdcard solved made my phone useful again. Surprisingly, I manage to press the options in the alarm info window and can still actually view the full contents of my sdcard files but cant copy or delete. Inserted that faulty sdcard to my laptop and the same, I can see all files and manged to do backup.

The problem is this: In my laptop I cannot perform deletion of any file in that sdcard. Tried to format to no avail. Tried chkdsk in vista cmd utility but all good. Checked using partition software found patition normal FAT32 about 30gb capacity but after delete/format partition still the files not deleted. Format sdcard using sd card association utility but it say sdcard locked (when in fact the adapter slide switdh is unlocked). Im still trying and right now manged to format(still ongoing as I write about 58%) after reloading image copy of sdcard boot sector. If this fails, I try checking my sdcard actual capacity using another utility perhaps its a phony hacked sdcard.

If anyone had this kind of experience or idea to solve this problem please do share. Though I already replaced my sdcard with new 16gb but I would just like to find out a way to solve this if there is any solution. Thanks.

well looking into your situation, you got yourself a bricked sd. There is nothing you could do. Btw r u able to copy the files?

P.s i too ran into the same situation a year ago when using 5800. Luckily i was able to copy all the contents from it

Yes all precious files in sdcard can be copied and saved to my laptop drive using standard laptop copy/paste file operation. Only deletion and format not possible. At the moment 88% formatting sd has been going on. If this works out, I will post here the utilities I used in saving sdcard. Its been like 1.5% per hour formating process rate, lol.

Btw below may be useful utilities in sdcard/hdd/mmc/usb memory failures:
!!!!These utilities belongs to respective owners, I'm merely sharing these after searching through the internet!!!!
1. SD Formatter version4 by SD Association
2. File Assassin - kill files hat cannot be deleted
3. TDSS Killer - rootkit killer tool
4. Unlocker - kill files having error in deletion ( same as File Assassin)
5. H2testw - tests sdcard memory capacity (detecting counterfeit Flash drives)
6. HD Hacker - view/restore/save MBR
7. RecoveRx_v1.6 - transcend sd/mmc utility
8. USB Image Tool - create/ restore image files of USB flash drives and reveal device information
9. HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
