JITSI on Symbian because its in JAVA ?

the idea of a jitsi client came up.

Has anything grown out of it?
Could it be possible because it is written in JAVA and could spread from featurephone to smartphones?

Nothing ever came of it, no-one would take up such a big project these days.

sad, thought it could be easier to adapt a working java app  :-(
