Its not limited to six, you can add more than six, but the dots below will disappear if you add more than six
Plus you can enable delete option of the first screen
You will not have hundred dots if you keep hundred screens...
Steps if you want to add it without losing your apps,
Add it to rofs3 and flash it only using software update option in phoenix
then do a soft reset to get your mod
Or if you have a hacked phone, then after Software Update delete c:\private\10202be9\persists\200159c9.cre)

But could you please explain your explanation "add it to rofs3" ?
For example my N8, among the installation files, has only one file related to rofs3:
the file named "RM-596_111.030.0609_00.01_79u_prd.rofs3.fpsx".
What can I do ?

open the file using nokia cooker....:)
drop it in nokia cooker the file attached after you extract it...it will auto merge...:)

1.move the attached file to C after extract it.
2.Then delete this file.....c:\private\10202be9\persists\200159c9.cre
3.restart your phone.

makesure you uninstall any existince widget first...:)...that alway cause the error...:)

(guess who's line is this ;) )
1 - Backup this folder 200159c0 and 200159c9.cre first from C/private.
In case you don't like it after the mod is done.
(havent tried this before, since i formatted my phone for fresh start)
2 - Copy the modded files (200159c0 folder) to C/private. Overwrite all if prompt to.
3 - Go to C:/private/10202be9/persists/ and delete 200159c9.cre
4 - Restart the phone.
Homescreen will revert to it's original state.
A prompt will pop up for some error in homescreen. Ignore it.
That's all i think.
Now, you have 100 max homescreens.

if you have over 6 homescreens you get a lag when you rotate your phone to landscape

In any case make a double back-up before doing the firmware change.
Below I share my experience of temporarily(hopefully) losing my backed-up Nokia's N8 content.

- C Drive space has gone down
- Screen lags in rotation
- After 6 Screens Dot at the bottom of the screen disappear

If I modify XML rootconfiguration document and in syntax - <configuration max_child="100"> I modify - <configuration max_child="6"> and than Update Software in my rofs3 file, it will be only 6 HS ? Is no problem ? It will be working after ?

Two things:
1. The format must be .xml not .txt.
2. Make sure your question is outside of the quoted post, because you posted your question inside the quote which cloaks your question a bit ;)

Why do you post xml in text format?
If all you want is 6 screens, then your edit is fine.
You can put it into ROFS2 and overwrite the existing file if you want.

guys, i have a Nokia 603 running on Symbian Belle FP2 Official firmware, hacked with installserver.rmp & open4all.rmp patches
i want to have this homescreen mod...
1. I have no prbs with rotation lag, seeing as though i use same wallpaper for all homescreens
only prblm is, last time applying a patch on my phone, i deleted .cre file & bricked my phone losing all the 400 installation, a load of apps & games & all my data
so, i'm afraid to try it out but i really really want to... Only thing is, proceed very carefully so that NO LOSS OF DATA OCCURS this time
would you guys please give me a tutorial regarding how to do it on the phone itself? (that is, not using Nokia Cooker on a desktop to merge the file with ROFS2)
please please please i want to try this out very much, but i don't want to BRICK my device
(why the heck did Nokia impose a 6 homescreen limit in the 1st place...!!)

This is a flash-only mod. Follow the instructions and you will be fine, but you can just delete all homescreens and wipe the locked screen clean to avoid the trouble.

ok, so i guess if i do that thingie with Nokia Cooker, i don't have to lose my data/brick/re flash the firmware of my device, no?

If you flash as Software Update and remove the UDA in the options dialogue, you won't lose anything. You still have to delete the homescreen settings .cre to make it work, though.
C:\Private\10202be9\200159c9.cre, i think it is.

uhm, couldn't get that to work properly guys
so, here i got the Nokia Cooker Software running on my laptop & that attachment too
i reckon it needs a base firmware files to make the actual modifications on
do i have to download them from NaviFirm?
I reckon there's a full firmware file stored somewhere on the phone's ROM, could n't i use that somehow, dudes...?

You should read about firmware editing, flashing and the like before you even think about trying this, then.
You can download your firmware using Phoenix.

btw, bandwidth's extremely scarce back here in India & downloading the firmware files takes up a hefty 200-300MBs, i only asked if there was any way to extract the ROFS files from the phone's C/Z: Drive itself, never mind...

You can only do this if you download the full set of FW files.
