i am asking this to huellif, specifically, because i figure he is the best person to ask, but i wanted it to be a public discussion.
Basically, what i am trying to find out is if Il.Socio is still actively developing NC, will the 1st gen devices ever possibly see significant updates with such a tool, and will the possibility of user updates to the now officially dead Symbian OS be possible with such an editing ability.
Am i just dreaming, or is this a possibility?

Edit: i am in no way insinuating i yet have a clue how to do any of these things; this is merely a curiosity

no Marco stopped the development of NokiaCooker, it's a lot of work for nothing and nobody gives credits to him.
Most cookers remove the note "created with nokiacooker" from cfws.

And what do you expect to edit in core.fpsx?
Read my drive Z:\ explaination thread, it clearly explains you can edit ROFS1 and core header.
ROM and uboot on a Nokia device isn't possible without of original nokia tools and prive keys for the checksums.

i know and it's pretty frustrating, so i understand his stance.
Here is where we expose my lack of knowledge about how things work: My main curiosity was about whether or not it is possible to update Qt, Java, etc on the older devices as these were only incorporated in major firmware updates. Is there any possibility of continuing to update our devices to keep up with new updates for these operating environments?

I think Qt and Java are on ROFS, but we don't have Java sources and compiling Qt needs Symbian PDK which isn't public.

Oh! i had read somewhere quite a while ago about that and most likely did not understand (i still barely understand that much).
Well, that answers my question, so thank you very much ;)

There was a Java update, v2.1 for S60 v5, no non ROM release since then.
