Hello,

actually we cannot use any other size than 312x82px.
The only way is to find some hidden tricks.
Remember there are 2 types of widgets: Apps or WRT Widgets.
WRT are java/website based. But we develop only real Apps.

For the moment it would help, if we can find out the correct
keyword for the smaller widget. Actually we use 'wideimage'.
Sadly there is no documentation for other sized widgets  :(
Does anybody has some information?

Stefan

Thanks Pranil, but Symbian and QT is very complicating using widgets because:
With newer version of QT (ANNA or BELLE) it is not possible to build a widget project, because there is a bug in memory stack, so this app will immediately crash.
But the smaller/bigger widgets are maybe not available at S60 5rd Symbian. I read of a widget-type called 'shortcut', but I cannot create such a widget.

But what you guys want is to have all infos like clock, battery, date and (tell me what - weather?) in one row? Maybe it would be an option to create such an app with exact this widget?

I prefer to call WRT widgets "real apps" personally as it's what i write my apps in..

I heard about that memory stack problem, but there are hs widgets with different sizes are Selva showed above, an good example is the Tasks app.

Ok, we have to differentiate between WRT-Widgets and HS-API-Widgets.
As I understood WRT-Widgets are compiled to .wgz files like ComingNext.

Anyway: Question is again how to create widgets other than 312x82px with HS-API or is there any other way to access Homescreen widgets through symbian c++ API?

Thanks, Stefan

Does anybody knows someone at midupk?
Maybe they're willing to share some knowledge ;)
I'd love to see a qooBattery "mini" widget, and qooWeather, qooClock, ...

I had requested d13 (the developer of the Date widget) to share a sample widget project template. Although he declined to do so, here's an earlier reply that may help someone figure it out:
Hello,
There is no size limit imposed by Belle. The size of the widget can be any multiple of lines and columns (not pixels). Everything is possible, including your calendar. The only problem is i don't know if it's worth the effort developing the widget, since i believe there is no much request for it.
Regards,
d13

I'm using HsWidgetPublisher-API. There are two functions to create a widget - both want a template name - no pixel sizes etc. But there are only templates with the size of 312x82px. With Belle you cannot use this API because there is an unfixed bug in QT that will crash the app - no chance for fix.

Thanks for the hints, but without a sample how to integrate in Qt C++, it wont help.

Is there any way you could buy one of those homescreen widgets that have different size settings and try to find how it's done ?

If the widget is in QML than its possible to see - but we cannot use QML.
With Qt C++ I have to decompile the app and this is piracy.
We are no pirates ;)
