Title: [QUESTION] Is there a work-around DRM for .m4p?
Post by: matthew on November 19, 2013, 01:09:47 am
First off, if this flirts a bit too much with piracy concerns, please remove the post.
i recently reinstalled iTunes after finding out it is an .aac converter (i also rediscovered that PC Suite is, too ::)) and after installing it, it set me up with all the music i had previously purchased. Now, i have hundreds and hundreds of songs in this protected .aac format (.m4p) and i want to put them on the phones, but i really do not want to have to burn and rip to get them.
Is there a way to defeat the DRM permissions in the firmware? i know where several of the related files are and i have read them a bit, but i do not know how to modify them to allow protected file playback (if it's even possible).
Thanks and/or sorry :-[

I don't think there is tbh, but as long as no tools for cracking DRM ect are posted then the thread can stay.

And if it can be done but the person who knows how is uncomfortable with publicising it, PM is cool by me.

Well I can remove it if you want, your choice.

Maybe that's best.
i'll just test mods on the E72 to see if it's possible. Or use a CD-RW and get over it ::)
