Hey there, guys!
So I have a Nokia 701 and a few weeks/months ago I got the update for Feature Pack 2, which sucks a lot and I don't want it. So I looked to downgrade it.
I downloaded the correct firmware for my product code (tried 111.10.*, 111.30.*), but it didn't work. When waiting for communication response after programming the device, it just counts down from 25 to 0 and tell me it failed. I could only successfully flash my phone to the current version which is 113.*.*.
Now after a little research I learned that I need a special device to downgrade the 701. Is that true? And do you think someone from Nokia could downgrade the phone for me?

You can't downgrade it yourself only Nokia can do it for you.

Paul, I've done it. Also showed you some screenshots. The only bug is that the phone gets slightly slower but I've done it :P

In regards to downgrading the firmware, has anyone ever tried gutting the .fpsx files with NC and replacing with the lower FW's files?
It was how i built the CFW for my E72, incorporating RM-530 FW (91.003) to my RM-529 (71.004).
There is always dead phone flashing if you brick it, right?

I did have that idea once but never had the gonads to try it out, and the older devices don't always recover with dead flashing, it's S^3 ones which are best at that.
But I guess it would just brick, hash checks or something like that.

i am pretty sure it will work, and i can say from experience that even S60 will take a dead flash no sweat. i bricked the E72 a few times trying out more extensive mods when i was working on that CFW for it, but it was resuscitated every time.
Speaking of not having the sac for a flash, i have the first version of an N8 CFW ready to go but i like the phone just the way it is right now so i am hesitant to flash it :D

so can anybody tell me how to downgrade fp2 to nokia belle fp1 or nokia belle please, i was about to use the nokia n8 method in my nokia 603 but im not sure if it will works or maybe i could brick my phone...

Check with Sanjay, mate. He has done it. i am pretty sure i know a way, but he says he has already done it.
