Help modding symbian belle applications
« on: January 04, 2015, 12:53:13 am »
hello all symbian developers. though Symbian was glorious past, but I still loved it :P. I have 1 phone N8 using my CFW. and I like Sinew iLauncher app. but it can not change the background of the menu. Its glass default image. You can help me change it transparent background or one that natural images. thus, it can be seen outside the home wallpaper. and it can be 1 mod attractive for this application . for many people liked it   :D . Thanks for all  :)

Hi guys I'm new here if somebody here could help me i would greatly appreciate it.

In the early days of Nokia I was a fan of the Nokia N8 so comes to this day I've got request for something i hope somebody can help with.

I used to use my Nokia N8 FM Transmitter a lot (probably like a lot of people) and in the early stages of my telephone I remember playing around with MODS & CFW's and stuff and i remember running into a mod (I believe by 'huellif'?) I can't remember exactly if this is correct or why I'm even writing about it but it might be helpful to somebody.

I remember the MOD specifically tweaked the amount of 'electricity?' sent to the FM Transmitter?

Anyway with this MOD the N8's FM Transmitter used to play OVER already present radio signals.

So whichever station I chose i could put it on and press FM Transmitter and bang the radio frequency would change to the music I was playing, 'regardless' of whether there was already a station playing at that particular frequency.

SOMEBODY around here must have that MOD.

Now since then it's gone completely down hill.

I bought a Nokia 808 and realized the FM Transmitter was much weaker with 'static'. Nokia N8 would never have static. I did some research and looked for MODS at the time and remember reading an article about how it's not possible to tweak such a feature as the FM Transmitter on the Nokia 808 was a different chipset and much 'weaker' in its features. You could tell just by listening to it. But the truth is I personally don't know exactly.

Nokia 808 FM Transmitter - Static
Nokia N8 FM Transmitter - No Static

--is the only difference i 'noticed'. Especially when playing from a distance FM Transmitter behaved a lot different to the Nokia N8's.

Since then I've given up on the Nokia 808 Pureview.

I'm only going by memory here so all of it doesn't really matter excepttttttttt...............

I've bought a new Nokia N8 recently (and had a old one to test with), I'm not sure if the radio signals around here have changed and the radio stations signals have strengthened but i can't play a song on my FM Transmitter without 'TIEING' a radio antenna onto my Nokia N8.
WHAT IS GOING ON!? Please help.. I've tried CFW's but no luck. Non of them carry the feature or MOD, and i can't find the one that does.

Forget playing at a distance when i sit in my car even with it's original firmware, as long as the radio station didn't have any 'music' playing on it, i would have no problems listening to music from at least 2 metres away from the radio. NOWW, I'm sitting INSIDE the vehicle and i have to STICK the N8 onto the radio ITSELF just to hear something!

NOWW, even when there's no signal on the frequency i set it too, I have to TIE the antenna.

Don't get discouraged by a boring story but it's true.
Radio frequencies change 2023?? Anyway that's not the point of the story.

First of all I'm looking for the specific MOD for the N8 or MODs that made what i first described possible, with that 'tweak?' it used to make it possible to listen to music from a much futher distance than possible with the normal firmware aswell... So it was a WIN WIN!!

PLEASE HELP.!

Best Regards,

Hello SymbianAnna,

As far as I know, such mod has never existed for Symbian. However, there was a boost mod for Maemo (by Jacekowski). Are you sure you had N8 and not N900 by any chance? :D

I was trying to find how FM-Tx power works on Symbian, but unfortunately, I couldn't. I need some manufacturer information here, which, I think, I will never know these days. And this piece of information is:
- whether there are country-specific power restrictions for FM-Tx on a hardware level (that could explain why your previous N8 was better), patch is useless here because of hardware limitation.
- exact numbers of power in Watts for FM-Tx`es, which are used in Symbian phones. As you may guess, they are different from Maemo.

And by the way, you can plug a charger to N8 while using FM-Tx, it will serve as a sort of transmitting antenna, what will improve your signal. But don't connect the charger to the socket, just plug it only in the phone.

You can play around with the Unlock VHF-band patch, you can get it here: http://www.symwld.com/symbian-store/ROMPatcher.zip
You will find the patch inside any ROMPatcher SIS file in the Zip archive.
Or if it is too complicated for you, send me an email and I will attach it there.

Dam it, it has to be somewhere....

lol i know what you mean but it exists... I'm talking about mods mods mods i remember now...It came with CFW..sorry if i mislead you...

but the thing is i read somewhere the voltage is like 50 nanowatt's? I read this just recently. It was the only thing i could find on the topic.. I hope somebody else has heard about it or knows of the topic...

EMMC..uda..core..rofs2..rofls 3.. It's gotta be in there somewhere but where?? would anyone here know how to tweak the fuctioon? Or could anybody teach me how to find and do it myself...it probably looks something like? [[[[[[>>>>55000000<<<<<]]]]]] lol i have no idea but to be able to make such a change is something i want to try myself anddd i'm not a coder or anything so i don't know but maybe putting something like 10000000 would work?

Try double...then more or less etc etc...maybe not even double to start with little by little....

I don't know but can somebody find this for me?

Anyways it was definately CFW whoever it was... i don't think it was hueliff.. anyways thanks if anybody can help.
