Format your memory card and refurbish with Delight.
-
how do I format memory card? do you mean hard reset?
I plan on staying with OE firmware till I know the phone is working properly. I will revisit Delight Belle later.
having difficulty getting back into flash mode
thanks Matthew
-

No, turn off the phone and connect it to a PC, then either right-click and format the memory card orjust highlight everything on the card and delete it. Remember to back up anything important, first.
having difficulty getting back into flash mode
Again, turn off the phone and start the refurbish flash, then when the popup comes on with flashing instructions, plug the USB cable in and do nothing else. That's the normal procedure for flashing via USB.
-
memory card does not show up under my computer?
thanks
-
Do you have a memory card reader? Remove the card from the phone and use a card reader, or another phone.
-
Are you referring to the user removable memory card? because all of my flashes have been done with the sim and memory card removed.
to complicate matters, I think my battery has gone flat. will have to look for a replacement.
-
Aren't you using dead phone USB flashing?
-
Yes "Dead phone Flashing".
I am not sure I understand the bit about the memory card. I thought it was recommended to remove the sim and memory card before flashing.
thanks
-
My 808 just did this, was listening to music and the phone just locked into a loop -_-
-
another case of the Symbian Flu? I hope yours will cure easier than mine.
-
i've never removed the SIM and if i flash a corrupted phone, i wipe the phone memory and the memory card, too. There is a file for the memory card ... MC_F_nocard.mcard.cardverref.xml that i flash, as well.
Basically, format memory card, three-finger reset, turn phone off, start dead phone USB refurbish, get the popup dialogue, insert the USB cable and click OK.
-
thanks, I will give it a try.

Just refurbished in Dead usb mode back to ofw, bob's your uncle, tad lucky

"Just refurbished in Dead usb mode back to ofw, bob's your uncle, tad lucky"
that's great.
I am waiting for a replacement battery. My N8 wont turn on at all w/o usb plugged in. Pretty sure the battery is flat.

Hi matthew how to wipe phone memory?
-
Three finger reset wipes the phone memory, power on- hold volume down, camera and menu till the dots wipes the phone memory
-
The keyboard-having E Series phones' 3-finger reset is Shift + Space + Backspace (a bit more difficult :P)
-
Can someone make an app that's wipes the phone memory like the three finger reset I'm having problem in my volume button its hard to pressed. This could be helpful to all of us our symbian phone are getting a bit old.
-
If your phone boots, just dial *#7370# to get the same result.
-
Hello Matthew, Allstar
replacement battery no help.
tried to flash that file(MC_F_nocard.mcard.....) rcvd. error msg " ERROR: Unable to load file...."; ERROR: Failed to set phone to flash mode.
Still no boot. get NOKIA flashing a few times and a few scrolling dots then screen goes blank. Get both single and triple vibes though hit and miss getting into flash mode.
Considering another downgrade attempt?
-
If you have successfully formatted your phone with the Camera + Volume down + Menu, your phone should boot to the Enter security code screen.
At this point, turn off your phone and dead phone USB flash in refurbish mode to either Scandinavia 11.005 or Delight v6.4. Load the product code, remove the red files, start the flash and you will get a popup telling you to remove the USB cable and at that point, insert the USB cable and click the OK button - do NOT turn on your phone.
This is the only way to revive a dead phone (i've done it a few times).
-
Hello Matthew,
Have successfully done the five finger reset many times. pwr button, vol down, camera and menu till three vibes.
tried the Scand downgrade. flash successful but unable to establish communication after flash. Phone freezes during boot-up at the handshakes. did another five finger reset and tried Delight Belle.
Successful flash, but phone still wont boot up afterwards. I get the scrolling dots for about 15sec and then screen goes blank.
what have I missed?
-
3 vibrations is not correct behaviour.
With nothing plugged into the phone, hold the camera to its second step, menu and volume down then press power until the phone powers on and then let the power button go, but maintain the other 3 buttons. It should behave as a first-time boot at this point and walk you through time zone, et cetera.

tried that technique, no dice.
question, when flashing the Scand. downgrade 011.005 firmware, how many file should I have? I have only three that are actually flashing. the core.fspx,rofs2.fpsx and rofs3.fpsx?
thanks,

got the files ok, thanks.
still getting failure to communicate with device after flashing error? using the crkd Phoenix 2012.04
I am not sure why I get this error?
-
It's normal. When you get the message about failure to communicate ... 20... 19..., disconnect the phone and hold power until the three vibrations happens. Done.
-
Hello Matthew,
I tried the Scand firmware and my N8 still wont boot up properly. with the previously mentioned error msg. unable to communicate at the end.
I flashed the original firmware 059C8T6 and it went through 100% also with factory resets, firmware update complete message. Afterwards still wont boot up properly. I get Nokia screen and scrolling dots then screen goes blank.
I am out of ideas at this point. Do you have any suggestions? What would stop the device from booting up if I have successfully flashed the firmware?
thanks,
-
Scrolling dots is not S^3; it's Belle Refresh. S^3 and Anna's boot screen is the white NOKIA Connecting People handshake animation.
Which files are you actually flashing?
Empty your rm-596 folder and extract ONLY the Scandinavian 11.5 firmware into it and flash that.
-
the first flash was with the Scand firmware. this is when I got the failure to communicate after the flash error msg. phone was not booting up properly, it would start then freeze then screen goes blank.
I performed another flash of the 059C8T6 (my north american original firmware) and it flashed 100pct no errors. firmware update complete msg at the end. This is what I have now on the phone with the scrolling dots and then blank screen.
all flashes were performed from separate folders. no intermixing of product code files.
-
Your phone is soft bricked. You have to flash the Scandinavian 11.5 to get it back.
-
I forgot to three finger reset before flashing.
Stuck in boot loop at boot screen after the handshake.
three fingered and re flashed again. battery down to 10%.
on the charger for the night. update later.
thanks..

wont turn on at all. pwr button gives single vibe with no display. holding down for three vibes has no effect either. with this firmware the triple vibes are much weaker than with other firmwares.
plugging in usb to computer seems to wake up phone and yields a Nokia screen boot loop.

Would you please show a screenshot of your flashing files (in Phoenix) and every step of your flashing procedure?
Have you tried different USB ports?

have not tried different usb port yet. I will work on those screen shots.
as far as Scand files goes, the ones I got from you match what I had.

after countdown I disconnected and held power button down for the three vibes. this was using another usb port. I think it is still soft bricked, not booting after this recent flash yet..

You're off by quite a bit.
Step 1: Turn off phone with long press until three vibrations.
Step 2: Clear your rm596 folder and unzip the archive into the folder again.
Step 3: Kill all antivirus/malware software until it no longer resuscitates in the program manager's process list (Ctrl+Alt+Del)
Step 4: Open Phoenix, open product
(http://static.dyp.im/DD626g0OBl/36b05ba2cc59727d6439015bfe2dc3c9.jpg)
Step 5: Flashing > Firmware update
Step 6: Product code 0598984, dead USB flash, no options ticked (no downgrade, etc)
Step 7: Start flash via Refurbish (phone is not connected to PC yet)
(At this screen, insert the USB cable and click OK)
Step 8: Wait for the flash to finish...
...and then disconnect and boot your phone. (Yes, i just downgraded the N8 to S^3 :P)
-
Hello Matthew,
thanks for the reply. Other than the ticked boxes in step six, I have done exactly the same. The version of Phoenix that I have automatically ticks them when I open Phoenix, so I let it be. What version of Phoenix are you using?
After a successful downgrade, can I flash any other firmware afterwards?
-
You have to remove the checks in those boxes, but then yes, flash any software version you want.
-
Oh, i'm using 2012.04.003.47798
-

I thought that I read that you need the cracked version to work. Is that true?
-
i don't know; i have only ever used cracked versions.

have you seen this error before? thought it insignificant since Phoenix was still flashing?
-
Yes, i have. You just close Phoenix and start over.
-
So far I have tried this method in three different computers and get the same results. I must be missing something else. I always get down to the final steps not being completed resulting in the countdown with the Scand. firmware. When flashing my OE firmware, I can get "firmware update succeeded"
I have tried different cables, usb ports.
I have about 50% operational phone with the Scand firmware on it. rebooting every few minutes.
Is it okay to re-flash over a bad Scand flash? Should I be doing hard resets in between flashes? or alternating firmware 0598984 then 059C8T6?
-

Matt, please explain how you flash the "MC_F_nocard.mcard.cardverref.xml" file.
what product code, does that matter, is it flashed by itself, what classification ie. image,PPM,content etc under the options tab after adding the file. is it flashed as a dead phone refurb flash also?
-
There is no such file in the Scandinavian 11.005 firmware. Have you successfully downgraded to that firmware yet?
The memory card file is irrelevant if you haven't yet recovered your phone.
You have two options to restore a phone - 1: flash the highest firmware you have used (refurbish), or 2: flash the Scandinavian 11.005 (refurbish) and then whatever you want (also refurbish).

No matter what I have tried, I am unable to get a successful downgrade to the Scand firmware. It is puzzling that Phoenix says a flash is successful when flashing non Scand firmware and yet it isn't.
The highest firmware is probably the Delight Belle, but I have to check. Actually I think the Belle refresh is higher.

tried product code 059C5Q7 (111.040.1511) as well as Delight Belle, still wont boot after a proper flash.
-
Then it wasn't a proper flash.
You might try uninstalling all Phoenix and Nokia software (including connectivity cable drivers), then fresh installing it all and trying again.
i had to reinstall SP3 at one point to be able to flash.

I will try the clean install of Phoenix.
Just to clarify, what I meant by a proper flash is that I received the firmware update successful message with all factory resets done as well.
-
tried the clean install. No luck. I keep getting the same error flashing the Scand firmware.

managed to get a "Firmware update succeeded message" with the Scand firmware and flashed Anna over it. Both flashes were plagued by almost constant freezes and boot loops.
