Hey guys, first post here..
Ive been lurking on the forums for quite some time, since I began having problems with the phone.
So basicly a friend of mine got this phone as a gift(someone found the phone on the streets some months ago and he tried to call the owner but no success). When the battery ran out, he couldnt boot the phone up anymore since it needed the security code. That's when I received the phone. I started reading some forums on how to remove the code, but no succes. So I used BB5 or whatever it's called, and I hooked up my E7 (actually MY phone, which is still working). As a complete newb, I thought if I would copy the files and settings via BB5 that the code would be removed(called permanent memory?). So i made a backup of my permanent memory(from my working E7) and then afterwards I coppied that to the E7 which needed the security code. After that was done, that E7 was saying 'phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer'. I think it screwed up the IMEI? I tried flashing the phone many times with Phoenix, sometimes it says failed, and like today, it said: Firmware updating succeeded. Tried to boot the phone but still the same 'phone start-up failed...'
Wow, can't believe it has became such a long post.. Sorry guys, I could really use some help
Also, ive tried all the different firmware versions for this phone..
