Hi mates,
I need mods for S60v3 Fp1-Fp2. Could you share mods and experiences with me if you have.
-
Sounds like fun. i have the EURO1 firmware 34.001 downloaded - what is the objective for the firmware?
:)
-
It sounds good. :)
First step is;
-Performance tweaks (cpu, ram (startup and background apps), heap size, etc.)
-Remove unnecessaries files and apps
Mate, what about your ideas?
-
Well, my first task is obviously to get the ROFS2 that you are using ;)
The CenRep mods you refer to are the exact same (basically) as the S^3 keys. FP2 responds very well to CenRep massaging :D
-
:)
You have experience with E72 ;)
-
i forgot to report back :P
Okay, so what exactly is on your list for tweaking? i can offer suggestions but i want to know rather precisely what you want in the edit.
Most "mods" for v3 are all Python apps, not actual mods at all, so those will have to be sorted out separate to the firmware side ;)
-
Mate,
I tweaked it :D (cpu-heap size.) It works well :) But ram capacity is 50mb around so it seems bad. I think I can manage with Starter.rsc or something but I need to know unwanted apps or process.
I want to remove all 3 party apps and unwanted files ( I removed quickoffice, adobe reader, zip manager, font magnifier, world travaler, ovi music, settings manager etc.)
I need to know more and more :)
I loved this phone :D
-
Drop this in C:\resource and reboot.
We have the exact same starter_non_critical_1.rsc and i know the changes made on this one are safe. It freed approximately 7MB for the E72.

This file works from C:\, so you can test and tune.
Also, did you get an answer about your NC54 C:\ drive?
i think i know what happened. You repartitioned, didn't you?

I partitioned with NC 3.4. Marco said; try with original UDA. So I will try without repartitioned.
-
It's an easy fix:
Open your original UDA and copy the contents to a folder.
Repartition, then open the new wiped out UDA and copy the contents back into it, then save it.
This happened to me once, too ::)

Why buy an ESeries and delete the Office Suite?
Font Magnifier is only 2MB, and i had the E72 up to a 333MB C:\ (total) with two languages. After all Qt, apps, etc. it was still over 250MB free.
Even now, on OFW i have all the apps i can stand on C:\ and reserve 175MB to go on C:\.

By the way, all v3 mods are either ROMPatcher patches or Python apps.

Mate,
Your E72 is different than E55. E55 has 56mb with default. After cleaning it has 106mb.
Which QT apps could you open successfully?
-
Ouch. It's pretty bad that the E72 has a more space available on C:\ than i could even strive to get on the N8... If only it had more RAM :(
i think i have no Qt apps on the E72, as crazy as that seems after the troubles went to to get that Qt library :P
i honestly use almost no apps outside of the original ones on v3.
The reason i wanted the newest available Qt was to be able to use huellif's SVGB2SVG converter. Everything else is C++ or Java ::)

It is time to learn C++ :P

Without removing FontMagnifier, QuickOffice, Adobe PDF, ZIP Manager or Settings Manager i have the C:\ up to 120MB. i removed Maps (update to 3.4 is available from Nokia Store or from my cache), Tutorial, My Nokia, Music Store, 3D Audio, World Traveler, Audio Theme presets, English TTS files, removed help files for removed apps, removed most default ringtones (put them on memory card instead), removed default themes (memory card), replaced fonts with Pure, replaced the Startup.mbm with a single frame, etc.
You can keep those apps, mate.
-
(And ROMPatcher+ is in ROFS, too ;) )

Could you share for removing details of 3D Audio, Audio Theme presets, Tutorial, My Nokia, Music Store etc. and font with pure?

Make friends with SISContents, RSCEditor and Windows Search :)
\\system\install\*.sis installer stubs can be opened to reveal files for the apps you want gone.
\\sys\bin\ lets you know app names which you can search using the Windows Search tool rather than going through each folder
App UIDs lead you to folders in \\private\ and more files.
You can use RSCEditor to open binaries and RSCs to get more info about app UIDs, too.
-
Here's a short goal. If you are really willing to part with more apps, this is just a low figure for you to reach:

You showed me that I am right way ;)

Search
SmartPromoUI (i hope that makes sense) and tutor to hit the gold mines. i can't remember all folders to seek off the top of my head, but ROFS1/2:
\private\2000f8aa\
\private\10005a32\
\private\10201afd\
\private\10208a86\
...should get you going ;)
Edit: Honing the SmartPromoUI search keyword

My first edit OFW was like that. I have been removed many things from OFW. I think that lots of things is unncecessary and garbage.
