For anyone who has not hacked their v3 device, here is a tutorial on how to do so.
First, download the file attached in this post and the select correct Installserver for your phone from it. You can check which OS version your phone is
here (S60 Wiki) or
here (courtesy Steve Litchfield). Sorry the lists aren't better; the Nokia Developer page's listings have been removed.
1. Remove your phone's memory card and insert it into your computer (or just select
Mass Storage mode on your phone if you do not have a card reader). You will need to have access to hidden system files and folders, so be logged in as an administrator and in
Folder Options enable
Show hidden files and folders.
2. Unzip the package and the
Quarantine archive in it, then drag the
Private folder to your memory card. This will place three "quarantined" .ldd (logical device driver) files required for ROMPatcher to work in a repository for the DrWeb antivirus app.
3. Extract the proper Installserver zip and copy the Installserver.exe file to your memory card, along with the RomPatcherPlus, X-plore and DrWeb_AV installers.
4. Put your memory card back in your phone (or change USB mode to
PC Suite).
5. Install X-plore, open it and go to
Menu > Tools > Configuration and enable
Show Hidden files and
Show system files/folders.
6. Install Dr. Web Anti-virus
to your memory card and open the app. It
MUST be installed on your memory card because that is where the quarantined files are.
7. Cancel the warning about a valid key and go to
Options > Quarantine and
Select all then
Restore.
This action moved the three necessary .ldd's to C:\sys\bin. Now exit and uninstall DrWeb.
8. Install ROMPatcher to
phone memory, open it and enable the Open4All RP+ patch. Exit ROMPatcher.
9. Go back into X-plore and move the Installserver.exe you extracted from the zip archive to
C:\sys\bin.
10. Open ROMPatcher, enable the Installserver RP+ patch and add both patches to
Auto.
