From the makers of popular pc software www.stellarium.org  Nicely detailed with information and views, written in qml with openGL graphics acceleration, you can browse through the sky, either by scrolling, or you could use the uber cool augmented reality, i.e, gyroscope n compass orientation along with gps.

Just rotate your phone, and it’d show the view of the sky in that direction, where you can zoom in on stars, read about their names n info.

You could adjust time & place manually or automatically. Swyping the sky in time view causes the sky to rotate along with time, giving a nice time forwarding effect. Sliding it makes the time forwarding at the speed you slides. Quite neatly done indeed

There are additional options to enable the latitude and longitude grids, and constellation pictures.

Sky map could be selected out of various presets based on diffrnt civilizations.

Though the app doesn’t work in landscape. But it’s still awesome enough to amaze your friends and get their jaws dropping.
